Why Phytax?
History
Phytax Ltd. was established as an analysis laboratory in 1998 in response to a need for the reliable assessment of the quality of traditional Asian remedies (especially herbs of traditional Chinese medicines TCM) based on Western standards. At that time (and unfortunately also today) Asian Certificates of Analysis often failed to meet these regulatory and scientific standards.
Not only were these Certificates of Analysis problematic, but also the Asian products (medicinal herbs) themselves were, and often still can be of poor quality – in addition to false botanical identity, shortcomings with respect to their content and purity (heavy metals, pesticides, aflatoxins, exposure to pathogens) remain both past, and current quality issues. Thus, for the last 27 years, Phytax has been dedicated to ensuring, through our Certificates of Analysis, that the quality of the products sold and consumed in the West are of the highest standard.
To meet this goal, Phytax employs experts from the fields of medicine, botany, phytochemistry, pharmacology, microbiology, AI and the Chinese language.
Phytax today possesses a unique know-how in the West regarding the quality control of TCM products, either as dried plants/animals and minerals or as extracts (dry or liquid).
Phytax customers not only include companies whose desire is to maintain the highest quality standard for their Asian and European products, but also government agencies and academic institutions, both within and outside Switzerland.
Unfortunately, the enforcement of the official requirements regarding the quality of food and medicinal herbs in both Switzerland and Europe is still insufficient to ensure the blanket quality of products available on the market today. Phytax was established to help take responsibility for this problem and to ensure reliable, high quality natural products.
